Adopt a Schnauzer / Mixed (long coat)

Schnauzer / Mixed (long coat) Dog

Bosco Scruffmeister the Dog needs a home

Bosco was adopted & lived in an apartment, having a great time with his mom & dad. You can see him lazing on the couch with his dad - doesn't he look happy & relaxed? He thought he had hit the jackpot & found his forever family. But Bosco didn't do well with other dogs he met on walks & in the building so he was returned to EHR in March of 2016. Bosco had a hard time adjusting to kennel life after spending a year in a real home. He is so well housebroken that he hated messing in his run which meant he was often uncomfortable. Kennel life has been rough on this poor boy.

Bosco needs some time to get used to new people he meets. But once he trusts you, he is your BFF. Bosco has found some volunteer friends at the kennel. One friend introduced him to another and now he has a few people who get him out of his kennel run for the walks he loves so much. Bosco, if allowed, would walk for hours in the woods behind the kennel, just taking in all the smells & enjoying the fresh air. One kennel buddy trimmed the hair on his face & now his beautiful smile shines through!

We are hoping to find a new home where Bosco will feel more secure & perhaps will not need to feel afraid of other dogs. A home with a backyard would be perfect for this adorable Schnauzer mix boy who is 5 years old & who weighs 40 pounds - he's woolly & reminds me of a big black sheep! :)

Bosco is a wonderful boy - besides being housebroken, he knows a few of the basic sit and stay commands. Because he may react around other dogs, he would be best suited to a single family home with some private outdoor space. Bosco absolutely loves being outside and will stay out for as long as possible. He's a great walker who doesn't tug on the leash, and will stick by your side as you're walking.

Bosco's temperament around the house is very subdued and quiet. He loves being around people and will follow you all over the house or sit right by your side on the couch. We do feel that he would be all right with older, respectful children, 10 years old & up. In the past he has been able to get along with a female dog, but he would be happiest as the only pet living in his home.

Here's what Bosco's kennel buddy has to say about him:  "Bosco was super easy to leash and came out without a problem.  We walked the whole trail and he was very easy on leash….he did a lot of sniffing.  I sat on the bench and after a bit, he stood on my lap.  He went back to his run without an issue and I found him to be easy to deal with!  He takes treats nicely, too!"

Do you have a place for Bosco in your home & heart? If you do, please fill out an application & be sure to mention his name! We would love to see this boy out of the kennel & back in a home environment as soon as possible!

If you can't adopt, please consider taking him temporarily as a foster dog - he could really use a break from kennel life. Bosco would REALLY love to be back in a home again!
